COACHES’ RESPONSIBILITIES
Coaches must ensure that a parent (or their designate) accompany and stay at the field of play with a child. A coach shall never be alone with a player in any age group. If the coach notices an unattended child, they should attempt to get another parent to remain with them until the child is picked up. The coach will report the occurrence to the Club office. In the event that all other parents have already left, the coach should remain with the child until pick-up.
Although not a mandatory requirement within the house league divisions, all coaches and volunteers are encouraged to obtain a York Regional Police Vulnerability Sector Screening clearance letter. Should a coach or volunteer already have a current screening letter (within 6 months), then a copy should be submitted to the Club. A coach shall not be responsible for transportation of any player(s) with the exception of their own child(ren) to/from practices, games or tournaments.A coach shall not be responsible for water or snacks.
A coach shall not allow identifying names to appear on his player’s uniform or equipment.
A coach is responsible for the team under their care including its staff, parents and supporters and must fulfill their team responsibilities.
It is the responsibility of the coach to be aware of; and uphold; the Rules, Policies and Procedures of the Club and report any exceptions.
The coach shall, at all times, act in a professional and constructive manner and maintain a positive attitude towards all, while representing the interests of the Club and its players.
It is the responsibility of the coach to protect the Referee from abuse, verbal or otherwise, regardless of the source, including their own player’s parents and spectators.
The coach will be responsible to ensure that all parents and spectators sit on the opposite side of the field of the players and/or player’s bench for all games. No exceptions.
It is the responsibility of the coach to distribute all materials provided by the Club, to each player, including any practice balls, flyers, fundraising information, rules, schedules etc.
Even though the Mentorship program is geared to the entry level coaches, it is incumbent on all coaches of the target age groups to cooperate and assist, wherever possible, in order to achieve the program goals of developing better players through better coaches.
