The Newmarket Soccer Club’s Development program is now its second year and year two is proving to be a great success. The 2007-2008 program has sold out with 26 teams taking advantage of the program since November 2007.

Players from U8 to U17 have received coaching from nationally licensed coaches, which is consistent with the NSC’s policy of only hiring coaches for the program with a National B License or higher. Over a 10 week period, players are exposed to techniques that develop a variety of ball mastery skills, coordination, agility, team building and team shape. The development program also promotes coaching development as Rep coaches are encouraged to work alongside the development coaches in order to enhance their knowledge of different coaching methods.

This year’s program includes a new feature – video analysis. The development coaches video tape team matches. The footage is then reviewed with the coaching staff to help plan the next phase of the team’s ongoing development and training.

The Club's Development program is scheduled to move outside in early May and will continue until late fall. The program will then move into its new home, the NSC soccer dome.
