Newmarket, ON – On August 17, 2025 during the Newmarket Soccer Clubs 65th Anniversary event, MPP Dawn Gallagher Murphy joined the Newmarket Soccer Club to award the Club with a Capital Grant for $46,100. The Capital Grant is from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).

The year-long grant will help the Club make upgrades and repairs to its bathrooms, playing field, emergency lighting and fire suppression systems to extend the life of the facility and ensure everyone’s safety.

“For more than 60 years, the Newmarket Soccer Club has inspired players of all ages to commit, believe, and achieve,” said Dawn Gallagher Murphy, MPP for Newmarket—Aurora. “This investment will support important facility upgrades and ensure the club continues to thrive while keeping the spirit of sport alive in our community.”

“We continue to be humbled by the ongoing support of the Provincial Government and the Ontario Trillium Foundation,” said Petra Fera, President of the Newmarket Soccer Club. “Replacing the fire suppression and emergency lighting systems will ensure the safety of our patrons but also enable us to keep the facility up to its highest standard and allow us to provide programming for our membership year-round.”

The Newmarket Soccer Club was established in 1960 and is celebrating its 65th Anniversary. Being able to continue to offer programming to over 5,000 members, year-round in its own facility, is instrumental in continuing to be the leading soccer provider in the Town of Newmarket. As a not-for-profit organization, the Club prides itself on delivering the best programming it can, at the most affordable cost to members. It is currently accepting registrations for fall programming.

“Whether it’s helping people learn new things, connect with their community, or simply have fun, organizations like the Newmarket Soccer Club deliver experiences that make a difference,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “That’s why grant support through the Ontario Trillium Foundation is so important. This funding will help ensure that it remains at the heart of the community for decades to come."

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Ontario government with a mission to build healthy and vibrant communities across the province. Last year, OTF invested nearly $105M into 732 community projects and multi-sector partnerships. Projects aim to enhance economic well-being, foster more active lifestyles, support child and youth development, provide spaces for people to come together and connect, and create a more sustainable environment.
