Frequently Asked Questions
Registration for all of our programs is done through PowerUp. Parents/guardians can create an account and add their children as players. Once added, PowerUp will automatically filter programs available for you or your child.
If you have difficulty setting up your account, refer to the PowerUp Guide here.
All requests to have a participant withdraw from a program must be made in writing clearly stating the participant’s name, age, current program that they are registered with and the reason for the withdrawal. All written requests must be emailed to the general manager at gm@newmarketsoccer.com.
More information about our refund policy can be found here.
Please visit the Program Summary page here to learn more about our recreational programs. Once you determine which program you are interested in, you can find more information about the current season through the other recreational tabs.
The general schedule for all programs will be available on our website to help with coordinating activities. The schedule specific to you will be shared on PowerUp two weeks before the program start date. Schedules can be viewed on PowerUp under ‘Family Calendar’. The schedule will show field location, start time and the team you will be playing against.
Players must wear shinpads and appropriate footwear when playing. Soccer cleats are preferred however, players may use running shoes if they do not have cleats.
To submit a friend request, both parents/guardians must complete one friend request form (please read through the instructions on the form). While we do our best to ensure all requests are accommodated, no friend requests are guaranteed. The form can be accessed here.
Players cannot make coach requests. Additionally, coaches cannot request specific players for their team, besides family members.
These rules are in place to ensure our recreational leagues remain as balanced as possible.
All our volunteer coaches are required to fill out our volunteer application form which can be found on PowerUp. After completing the form, send an email to admin@newmarketsoccer.com and let her know that you are interested in coaching! Parents will automatically be assigned to coach their child’s team. If you do not have a child registered in a program, please indicate the age group and gender you feel comfortable coaching so that we can guide your next steps.
Our House League Programs are built off volunteer coaches, who are usually parents or siblings of players on the team. Our coaches lead the sessions each week, keep the players engaged, and most of all, encourage everyone to have fun! Unfortunately, we aren’t always able to assign a coach to each team. As per our club policy and registration waivers, any team left without a coach will be assigned a parent rotation to follow during the season. Parent rotation schedules are created to split the responsibility evenly among parents.
We recommend that players stay within their designated age group, however, we understand that some players will feel they need to be placed with an older or younger group. If this is the case, please reach out to admin@newmarketsoccer.com and explain why the player should be moved. Before any changes are made, we require that one of our staff members assesses the player to determine their skill level. Assessments will only be done for players who are currently registered in an ongoing program and can take up to 2-4 weeks to occur.
If there is a decision made to change the division in which the player is registered in, the change may not be made until the next season depending on availability. If a program sells out, the change will not be made.
In divisions where we do not have enough registrants to field 4 teams, we will often run a pick-up division. The players will show up and be divided randomly into different teams each week to play games by the coaches on-site. This is offered to ensure all our players are still given the opportunity to enjoy soccer and make friends in the process!
We avoid scheduling sessions on holidays and long weekends. Any changes to the regular schedule will be noted and reflected in your PowerUp schedule.

Recreational teams are built with careful consideration based on gender, year of birth, player rating from previous seasons, and balanced number of players per team.
Mid-season rebalancing will not occur. We encourage coaches to put our Fair Play Rule found in our House League Policies in place if a game becomes lopsided.
We hope that no conflicts occur at any of our sessions, however, sometimes issues can arise. If any conflicts do arise, please notify the office in writing as soon as possible. It is often best to wait at least 24 hours before filing a complaint so that cooler heads prevail. Emails can be sent to admin@newmarketsoccer.com.
