About Us

Our History

The Newmarket Soccer Club was founded in 1960 and has always been dedicated to providing soccer programs for all ages and levels, in a fun and positive environment. We are a not-for-profit organization with a dedicated team, striving to serve our community and families in the best way possible.

Over the last 50 years, we have been grateful to be a part of the journey of so many of our players and families, helping them reach their potential and strive for better. From the incredible team victories to helping bring a smile to a player who just made their first goal, we could not have done it without having a loyal and supportive community behind us. We are very proud of the achievements and the hard work of all those who have been a part of the club, that has also led to on-field success.

Canada Soccer Level 2 Licensed Provider

The Newmarket Soccer Club is a Canada Soccer Club Licence Provincial Level 2 Provider. The Provincial Youth Club Licence – Level 2 of the Canada Soccer Club Licensing Program identifies organizations committed to achieving the highest expectations of the Grassroots, Community, and Competitive Streams and targets those with aspirations of moving into the Development/Performance Stream. Organizations achieving the Provincial Youth Club Licence – Level 2 are making an enhanced commitment across each of the pillars, which requires significant resources to achieve.

The Canada Soccer Club Licensing Program is designed to guide member organizations toward principles for organizational development both on and off the field. The goal of this program is to overall improve the quality of soccer within Canada. By raising the standards of member organization, both the daily playing environment and participant experience are enhanced, therefore improving the overall soccer system in Canada.

The Provincial/Territorial Youth Club License - Level 2 is given to organizations who are making an enhanced commitment to deliver across each of the pillars.

The characteristics and behaviours of Level 2 holders are designed to recognize high quality grassroots, community, and competitive organizations that have developed their governance and operations. Organizations who achieve the Provincial/Territorial Youth Club License - Level 2 demonstrate their commitment to quality and to providing an enhanced experience for their participants.

Our Facility

Unlike other clubs around the region, we own our own indoor field which features two turf fields. Throughout the fall/winter/spring months (Sept - May), we run most of our programs from here. We do also provide it for our community to use as well, including for community sports groups, schools and camps throughout the year.

Our Programs

We run and host a variety of programs for all ages and levels. For players under 4 to adults, we have recreational and competitive programs to suit the needs of all our families. We also run referee clinics, goalie clinics and coaching courses from time to time through our club, and we use our indoor fields to carry out the on-field portions. Here is a quick list of the programs we offer:

  • House League (recreational weekly games)
  • Skills Development (training with licensed coaches)
  • New-To-Soccer (learning the game for those Under 4 to Under 6)
  • All-Abilities Programs
  • Competitive (Under 8 to Adult)
  • Coaching Courses (such as Active Start & Learn to Train)
  • Referee Clinics
  • Goalie Clinics
  • Online Soccer Programs
